The Venture Theatre in Ashby is holding readings for a production of Agatha Christie's The Unexpected Guest - which is due to be staged in early October.

The readings are taking place this evening (Monday) at 8pm and Thursday, also at 8pm.

There are parts for seven men aged between 40 and 60ish, and for one approximately 19-years-old.

The production also requires three women aged between 40-60ish - and there is also a part for one corpse!

The play tells of a foggy night, when Michael Starkwedder enters the home of the Warwicks through a window in the study. He finds the dead body of Richard Warwick, and finds Richard's wife, Laura, holding a gun that supposedly killed him. Michael does not believe she killed him, and she soon tells him she is innocent.

The two decide to place the blame on an enemy from the past, MacGregor, a man whose son was killed when he was run over by Richard's car while Richard was driving drunk.

Ken Ward will direct the play with the Venture Theatre trying to get back on track despite some members not having been in touch for around two and a half years.

The theatre needs new people to join - as many are now ill, too old or have left.

Ken be contacted on Ashby 01530-589268 or by calling in to the theatre on a Monday evening from 8.00pm.
