A new housing development in Blackfordby is to adopt the name of the site of the former pub it will be built on.

Six new houses in the village are to be built following the demolition of the Bluebell Inn which began today (Tuesday).

However, the new close will make sure the pub's name lives on.

Ashby de la Zouch Town Council's planning committee was asked to consider a suggestion for a street name of 'Bluebell Mews'

All members present agreed with the name and it is expected to be called that when the building work is completed.

Planning permission was granted originally last year for the demolition of the existing public house and erection of the new dwellings at 17 Main Street,

North West Leicestershire District Council has since agreed to amendments to the designs and positioning of the proposed homes by the applicant Brookland Properties Limited.
