Ashby de la Zouch Town Council says it may have to reconsider allowing members of the public to walk their dogs in the Cemetery on Moira Road.

Complaints have been received about dog mess being found in the grounds of the cemetery.

Now the council warns that dog walkers may not be allowed to take their pets around the site if owners fail to clean up afterwards.

A social media post reads: "The Town Council has received several complaints from members of the public with regards to dog faeces along the footpaths and graves within the cemetery on Moira Road.

"Complaints have also been made that some dog owners are letting their dogs roam freely around the cemetery.

"Please ensure that if you do walk your dog through the cemetery that you dispose of any dog waste in the bins provided - and that you also keep your dog on a lead at all times within the cemetery boundary.

"The Town Council currently allows people to walk their dogs in the cemetery, but if complaints from members of the public continue this may need to be reviewed.

"Please be a responsible owner, bag it and bin it."
