Ashby schoolchildren take part in open air Dance-Off competition after being taught different styles

By Graham Hill 27th Mar 2022

The whole of Ashby C of E School took part in a Dance-Off competition this week after learning a variety of dances.

This term, Mr Slaney has been teaching dance to every pupil in school.

Each year group learnt a different type of traditional dance including: Maypole, Morris, Folk, Line and Country dancing.

This culminated in a whole school traditional Dance-Off on the school's Multi-Use Games Area in the Spring sunshine.

The School said: "After an incredibly difficult decision, Year 1/2 were crowned 'Champions' and awarded the Dance-Off Trophy along with a medal for Mr Slaney for all his hard work.

"The dancing was an absolute JOY to watch, every pupil performed with enthusiasm and commitment and we are incredibly proud of each and every single one.

"The children will continue to practice their dances and perform them as part of our Jubilee celebrations later this year."
