Ashby Castle Rotary Club is to stage their first open evening next month.

This will be an informal evening where members will give an insight in to the kind of things the club gets involved in both locally and internationally, the events they operate or support, the social gatherings that they organise for their members and to talk about some of the charities that they support throughout the year.

It will also be an opportunity for people to ask any questions they might have about Rotary and specifically Ashby Castle Rotary Club.

The club have stressed that there will be no hard sell or pressure - and all are welcome to attend.

Ashby Castle Rotary Club will be no strangers to the people of the town, and the surrounding area, as they make their way around area at Christmas with the Santa Sleigh, or gather up to 1,500 people on the Bath Grounds to do the hugely popular annual Santa Fun Run and Walk each December.

But Rotary says they are about far more than just Christmas events.

Ashby Castle Rotary Club are busy all year round in the local community, volunteering on or organising a vast array of events or projects to try and improve the local community, raising funds for a vast array of local, national and international charities or even just having fun at their varied range of social events.

While going about these activities, club members often get asked how they got in to Rotary, what it involves and what kind of things they get up to whilst volunteering in the local community.

There is no singular answer and all members of the club will have a different story to tell about how they initially got involved.

The open evening will be held at The Bistro, School Lane, Ashby, LE65 2RW, on Tuesday, June 11, and will start from 6:30pm.

There will be refreshments and a light buffet provided for guests.

To enable the club to manage numbers it will be necessary to book your place.

To do so, or for more information, please contact Debbie Hamilton, club secretary on: [email protected].
