Ashby Poppy Trail can be seen now in town centre shop windows

By Graham Hill 11th Nov 2021

The Ashby Arts Festival Poppy Trial can be seen in town centre windows at the moment in the lead up to Remembrance Day and Armistice Day.

A grant from North West Leicestershire District Council means that a trail of up to 100 paintings have been placed in shops around Ashby and also marks the centenary year of the Royal British Legion.

The organisers say that local, amateur and professional artists of all ages have joined in and created a poppy themed canvas board.

Schools, clubs and community groups have also contributed paintings.

The Festival also says it is honoured to have a group of artworks created by severely injured serving military personal receiving treatment and rehabilitation at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (Stamford Hall)

All artworks are on display in shop and business windows around the town centre until November 20.

The paintings will be then be auctioned during the trail to raise funds for the Royal British Legion.

You can find a bidding slip on a trail flyer which is available in participating shops or can be downloaded HERE.
