Measham Leisure Centre is to return to its original use in the new year after being used as a North West Leicestershire vaccination hub.
The venue has served Ashby and Coalville, among other places, during the pandemic, since January.
But now plans are in place to provide Measham residents with a leisure centre facility.
The update is revealed in the latest edition of Measham Parish Matters.
The chairman of the Measham Leisure Centre management committee, Colin Manifold, said: "We are pleased to say that, in the new year, the Leisure Centre will return to its original purpose.
"It's another rung on the ladder of returning to normality.
"We have to thank the NHS, its personnel and the volunteers who made the vaccination centre such a great success.
"And we will be forever in their debt for then roll out of the vaccination and jabs so quickly.
"Obviously, it will take time to return the centre to full normality, but we have been working hard behind the scenes. We still hope to build a new gym in 2022 for you all to enjoy.
"Special thanks go to all the Leisure Centre staff for their commitment and patience while we've been closed.
"I also want to thank all the Leisure Centre customers for their patience, I know they have really missed not being able to come along to the activities they enjoy."
