Ashby fire crew called out to early hours garden furniture blaze in Measham

Ashby fire crew was called out to a garden fire at a property in Measham in the early hours of this morning (Sunday).

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue reported that the call went out just before 12.15 to a home in Mease Close where garden furniture was alight.

The blaze was so fierce it melted guttering and plastics on the house and on that of the neighbouring property.

But it was not until 2.30am that the blaze was fully put out.

A Leicestershire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "A call was received to a fire at the back of a property where garden furniture was involved.

"Upon arrival, it was confirmed one plastic fence was involved in the fire.

"One hose reel Jet in use.

"Plastic fence panels and garden furniture involved.

"The fire also melted guttering and fascia on property and neighbouring property.

"Both properties loft spaces are currently being checked for fire spread."
