Tomorrow's planned flyover by a Lancaster Bomber - as part of Ashby's Jubilee Street Party - has been cancelled.

The historic aircraft was to have flown above Market Street during the town's Jubilee celebrations.

Ashby de la Zouch Town Council announced the decision today (Saturday) in a social media post.

It reads: "Unfortunately the RAF have cancelled their flyby for tomorrow."

However, it comes after the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for Sunday, with thunderstorms expected during the day.

Ashby partygoers hoping the weather holds after Met Office warning.

But at least one other event in the area has been cancelled on the back of the forecast.

Appleby Magna's Jubilee event is off. Organisers announced the decision on social media today.

Their post reads: "It is with the utmost sadness that I have to announce that due to the forecast, the Jubilee Event on the Rec is officially cancelled.

"There are negotiations going on to arrange a summer fete."

Another event has been called off with the Moira Furnace Craft Fair also cancelled due to the extreme forecast.

A social media post from Moira Furnace reads: "We are so, so sorry but, with a yellow weather warning now firmly in place for tomorrow morning for thunder and lightning and potential flooding due to heavy rain, we just cannot ensure the safety of the crafters in their metal gazebos, or the cars using the field for parking.

"This is not an easy decision to have to make and we know there will be lots of disappointed people, both crafters and visitors, but this is for everyone's safety.

"If you are a crafter, we will be in touch very shortly to explain what's happening and what will happen going forwards."
