Ashby de la Zouch Town Council has gained an extension to the deadline for residents to comment on the revised plans for the Royal Hotel development.

Details of the updated planning application, with images made public, were submitted to North West Leicestershire District Council last week.

That meant there was no time to add it to the agenda for last night's (Monday) Town Council planning committee which is not due to meet again until February 21.

The deadline for comments was February 2, but the Town Council has now won an extension to that date and plans an extraordinary meeting next month - on a date to be confirmed - so that the scheme can be discussed and the public can attend.

A meeting of the newly-formed Save The Royal group is also scheduled to hold its first public meeting on January 30.
