The developers planning six new houses on the site of the Bluebell Inn in Blackfordby have been given permission to make changes to the scheme.

Planning permission was granted originally last year for the demolition of the existing public house and erection of the new dwellings at 17 Main Street,

Now North West Leicestershire District Council has agreed to amends to the the designs and positioning of the proposed homes by the applicant Brookland Properties LImited.

An officers' report to the council says: "Amended plans have been received during the course of the application to address concerns with residential amenity and impacts on trees.

"This application will be assessed on the basis of the amended plans.

"The amendments in design terms generally improve the appearance of the proposed new dwellings as additional features have been added which were not included on the original approval.

"This includes the provision of chimneys for all six units, window head and sill details, more regulated and symmetrical locations of doors and windows, steeper roof slopes and additional decorative canopy features.

"The steeper roof pitches would help the scheme to have a similar appearance to that of nearby traditional properties in the Conservation Area.

"Overall the alterations are considered to improve the appearance of the site.

"It is noted that the exact siting of the footprint of each dwelling has been amended however this would not significantly differ from the layout of the originally approved scheme."
