An Ashby couple are revisiting a charity bike ride they completed over a decade ago - this time in the opposite direction.

Richard and Ange Bebbington will be cycling from 'Rome2Home' - the return journey after making the journey from Ashby to Rome in 2013.

Then, the couple cycled from 'Home2Rome', which saw them cover around 1,450 miles.

The cycle ride was in aid of Wishes 4 Kids , a small local Leicestershire charity granting wishes for life-limited and terminally ill children.

Richard said: "We have supported Wishes 4 Kids for nearly 20 years, and we are no strangers to pushing ourselves in crazy challenges to help raise vital funds for this wonderful charity.

"Finally, it's the return leg of our epic long-distance cycle trip is happening this August.

"Fast forward to 2024, 11 years later and 11 years older, we are finally setting off from Rome2Home.

"Like all of our other challenges, this will be 100 per cent self-funded, meaning that every penny goes directly towards granting wishes for poorly children.

"Just like Home2Rome in 2013, it will just be us, our trusty bikes and everything we need in our panniers on the open road through Italy, France and England, back to Leicestershire.

"We will be keeping our Facebook page updated throughout our journey, sharing the ups and downs of each pedal stroke.

"So please like, share and follow the page and come along with us, your support will be hugely appreciated."

Richard added: "it'll be 21 days cycling and daily mileage will vary, a maximum 90 miles.

"However we have some very steep climbs in the Alps where the days will be long, but with less mileage. We plan to average about 70 miles per day."
