A national brain injury charity has issued an appeal for more volunteers in Ashby.

Headway's charity shop in Market Street is looking for friendly people to volunteer their time in a number of ways, including greeting and serving customers, sorting donations, and ensuring the shop floor remains tidy and welcoming.

Headway's Head of Retail David Bryne said: "Our shops are very busy, so we desperately need more kind, positive people to join our much-valued teams.

"No experience is necessary, and we would be really happy to provide volunteers with training and support."

Headway says every year, around 350,000 people are admitted to hospital with a brain injury.

That is one every 90 seconds. Brain injuries can be sustained in several ways, including as a result of a stroke, brain tumour or accident.

Headway – the brain injury association is a UK-wide charity that works to improve life after brain injury by providing vital support, advocacy, and information services to brain injury survivors and their families.

David added: "The money raised from sales in our charity shops ensures that we can continue to offer vital support to those affected by brain injury.

Volunteering is also a fantastic way to learn new skills, make new friends, and to feel more connected to your community.

We'd love to hear from you if you can spare us a few hours a week. You will become an important part of helping improve life after brain injury."

To find out more about volunteering call the shop directly or pop in and see the team.

Ashby: 60 Market Street, Ashby de la Zouch, Leicestershire LE65 1AN, 01530 564949.
