Ashby Co-op staff become superheroes for the day to raise money for charity

Staff at Ashby Co-op have been dressing up as superheroes for charity.

The Derby Road store employees have been raising money for Mind with costumes such as Batman and Superman.

Ashby's Co-op is a community-based store and fundraising efforts such as this are one of the store's priorities.

They held a raffle with the chance to win a hamper of Co-op goodies as well.

The Co-op in Ashby is also heavily involved in the Helipads for Hospitals scheme with a donation made towards buying a Big Red Bin collection point for recycling.

Helipads For Hospitals is a UK charity founded by former RAF and Air Ambulance helicopter pilot John Nowell.

It is registered with the Charity Commission and the aim is to collect unwanted aluminium (i. e. saucepans and drinks cans) and to use the raw material to build helipads on site at hospitals.
