Ashby shop Indulgent Chocolates had to field a number of enquiries from concerned customers last week over fears that they had been a victim of vandalism.

One of the Bath Street business's windows was covered by black pvc, suggesting it could have been smashed.

But the reason was soon revealed by the shop, which moved into Ashby earlier this year.

Owner Keith Tiplady explained the cover-up was necessary while work was carried out on Indulgent's Christmas display.

And, on Thursday, the design was unveiled, surrounded by colourful lights.

The display has drawn plenty of complimentary comments as the business gets into the Christmas spirit.

But Keith said the black covering did cause some concern beforehand.

He said: "We had quite a few customers who were concerned that we'd had our window smashed or had a break-in.

"But we made it clear that the covering was only there so that we could put the finishing touches to our window display for Christmas.

"We've got a number of Christmas items which would make ideal presents."

It was just 18 months ago that took his first order of chocolates after setting up in business.

A year later, he was opening the Ashby shop.

People often queue to get into the plush looking store which has proved a big hit with Ashby shoppers.
