Video and Picture Gallery: Remembrance Day service returns to Ashby as crowds gather in Bath Grounds

By Graham Hill 14th Nov 2021

Ashby's Remembrance Day service was held at the Bath Grounds for the first time today (Sunday) as a large crowd gathered for the commemoration.

Last year's service was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic - and this year's return was staged at a new venue so as Covid measures could be adhered to.

The service was conducted by Revd Mary Gregory of St Helen's Church in Ashby before two minutes' silence was impeccably observed following the playing of The Last Post.

A choir also joined Revd Mary on a stage set up for the event, while local children were also in attendance.

Local dignitaries and a representative of the Royal British Legion also laid wreaths, with some taking theirs to the War Memorial in Market Street afterwards.

You can see a selection of photos from the day by clicking the right hand arrow on the above photo.

A video of Revd Mary beginning the morning's events can also be viewed above.
