Ashby Ivanhoe FC will be hosting EFL opposition in a pre-season friendly next month.

A Doncaster Rovers XI are coming to the NFU ground in Lower Packington Road on July 15.

Rovers are currently in League Two and managed by Frank Sinclair, a well known name who made over 150 appearances for both Chelsea and - more locally - Leicester City.

It is more good news for Ivanhoe who were promoted from Midland League Division One last season and will play the next campaign in the United Counties League.

The announcement of the Doncaster game comes as Ivanhoe continue to mark their 75th anniversary year.

A social media post by Ivanhoe said: "We are excited to share that we will be welcoming a Doncaster Rovers XI to the NFU on July 15.

"It will be the first time that the club has played against a Football League side, which highlights the progression the club has made over the last couple of years - that we can now secure games like these.

"We hope you can join us, for what will be a great afternoon of football."
