Young musicians invited to showcase talent at Ashby competition
By James Smith 27th Oct 2026
Young musicians in Ashby are being called to take part in a local competition this November.
It is time for music, whether you are just starting out or have played all of your life and you (or your child, grandchild, pupil) are under 18 and would like to showcase your talent in a local venue.
The Young Musician is a competition held annually by Ashby Castle Rotary Club and is open to all young people.
There are three categories depending on age and it is a great opportunity to share your love of music in a friendly environment, whatever level you are.
"A huge advantage is that our expert judges give encouraging, impartial and positive feedback," organisers said.
"Entries can be from solos, instruments or vocal, choirs, bands…you name it we will have it!"
Comments from previous performers included: "it helped me gain confidence in public," "it helped me improve my performance in areas I had not thought of," and "I was a bit scared at first, but everyone was friendly and I actually enjoyed myself".
"These comments show that taking part, even if you don't win (although a nice shiny shield is available to the lucky winners!) is just as vital as it can help you along your music journey as well as helping you to build confidence and to perform in front of an audience," organisers added.
This year's Young Musician event will take place on Tuesday 10 November in Ashby School Lecture Theatre at 5pm.
