What's on in the Ashby area this weekend: Return of the Ashby Show is the highlight
The Ashby Show returns on Sunday at Cattows Farm for the first time in three years.
With Covid restrictions preventing the event going ahead in 2020 and 2021, the organisers feel this one has a special feel to it as it returns to the Heather farmland.
There will be something for the whole family and, as always, it is not just an agricultural show.
Show Secretary, Jane Harding, told Ashby Nub News: "We've got something good to come back with this year in the form of monster trucks, so they should be really popular.
"They've already arrived on site and they're getting their vehicles prepped.
'There's about 200 stands in all with a new area for the British Farm produce.
"We have some nice cattle and sheep coming.
"There'll be show jumping in the main ring."
Jane, in her last year with the show, says the event is everything it used to be - with some added extras.
She said: "We've got a strongman competition this year - with guys who have competed in the TV events you'll have seen before.
"Some of them will be pulling tractors to that's going to be a good feature.
"There really is something for everyone - children and adults alike.:
Jane says it is good to see the show back after its enforced break.
She added: :"They're all volunteers and the team has all come back again.
"People have been there all week getting it set up, it's amazing with they do.
"I think we've gained people during the pandemic break, everyone's very enthusiastic."
