The Lyric Rooms in Ashby is turning the clock back on Friday night with a Northern Soul evening.

For those of you 'keeping the faith', this is the night for you.

The Lower Church Street venue will be hosting the Northern Souldiers.

Featuring Northern Soul Classics, Motown and 1970s Soul with DJ Jeff Whetton, a much respected local DJ from Ashby who has been around the Soul scene for a long time.

The rest of the Northern Souldiers, Debbie, Rob, Jon & Jed, soul club members, are now in their ninth year and based at the Zingari club In Long Eaton.

On Saturday night, the Ashby Leisure Centre in Hood Park has top class boxing with Box Fest.

The event features boxers from Ashby's Motiv8studio and includes seven title fights with a headline main event world title bout.

Confirmed as the main event bout is Danny Nash v Brandon Webster for the BBO British Title.

But there will also be a IBA Cruiserweight World Title Bout between Szymon Szynkiewicz of Poland and Ashby-based Liam Parker.

Full supporting undercard and a public weigh in at 6pm on Friday at the leisure centre.

Saturday also has a concert at St Helen's Church, featuring the Gresley Male Voice Choir and the Boundary Singers.

It will be another busy weekend at Brew in Ashby.
