The Heather Music festival over Saturday and Sunday is one of the highlights of the weekend in and around Coalville.

After the success of the Heather Scarecrow Festival last week, the two-day free festival also returns following the enforced break due to the Pandemic.

A host of Leicestershire based bands have been lined up for the event near Ashby, which is free to the public.

Tony Marsden, part of the organising team, says they are expecting large crowds with ideal weather forecast.

The Shed came second in the recent Coalville Has Talent event and are also part of the Heather Music Festival Line-up

He said: "The event was slightly bigger before Covid year, it was Heather in the Park which included the World Barebeque Championships which we were also hosting.

"But historically, the music festival has been something the village has taken on board for more than 20 years.

"We're calling this a bit of bounceback event and Heather St John's Football Club wanted to work with us on this.

"They do so much for the village and it will be a free event. The venue has been good for the community.

"We've had a good record of bringing decent acts in from around Leicestershire.

"And a lot of them are looking to getting back to playing live again after the last two years.

"Some of the bands are different now, their circumstances have changed.

"We will also be raising money for LOROS over the two days."

You can find more details of the event HERE.

As usual, there is plenty of live music on offer in the area.

The White Hart has a band playing on Saturday night - and Rainer will be this weekend's act.

They are a band the venue is looking forward to welcoming back.

You can find out more details about the gig HERE.

The Bowling Green also has live music on Saturday night.

They will be welcoming Covers of Invention to the pub this weekend.

More details are HERE.

Brew in Market Street has plenty going on this weekend as usual.

Saturday sees the Ashby venue host The Burgerologist Street Food Pop Up.

You can find more details about that HERE.

Brew is also staging its Lazy Sunday Afternoon session again.

This week, Matt Peach and Tommy Gent are playing live.

Conkers is playing host to Eagles Tribute Act Talon on Saturday night.

The band will be bringing their West Coast sounds to the Moira venue.

But it already looks as though this one has sold out.

Details are HERE.
