Festive shoppers in Ashby are being encouraged to support local businesses and the high streets this Christmas by taking advantage of free Saturday parking.

North West Leicestershire District Council will make its car parks free of charge on each Saturday before Christmas in December.

Charges usually apply in Ashby, but will be free every Saturday from November 27-December 18 in all of the following car parks:

  • Hood Park Leisure Centre
  • North Street
  • South Street
  • Brook Street.

Council car parks throughout the district's villages are always free to use.

All council car parks are listed online HERE.

Any maximum stay time restrictions in car parks or on street parking bays will still apply.

Councillor Tony Gillard, Portfolio Holder for Business at North West Leicestershire District Council, said: "We want to encourage people to shop locally this Christmas and help our businesses and high streets recover from the impacts of COVID-19.

"Offering free parking makes coming into town cheaper and more convenient. Please take advantage of this and help give our high streets a real boost this festive season."
