Vandalism of Ashby’s Mill Lane Mews

The umbrella installation along Ashby's Mill Lane News was vandalised over the Bank Holiday.
The installation, which was created by Love Ashby with Ashby BID to bring colour and life to the side street, now has two umbrellas broken, with one dangling down and the other on the floor.
Love Ashby addressed the vandalism, saying they are 'very disappointed to see our display has been vandalised.'

Local people have also speculated that a few may be missing but this has not been confirmed by Love Ashby.
The broken umbrellas are outside The Short Cut, who took to Facebook to say: 'A big effort was made to make Mill Lane Mews to look great, just a real shame that this is what some people do to reward the hard work.'

Local people commented on both The Short Cut and Love Ashby's post, sharing their dismay.
One comment said 'It looked beautiful, such a shame,' with another adding 'How sad, it looked so lovely.'
Another commenter posted saying 'someone is trying to ruin Ashby again, extra sad... and was only down Mill Lane myself earlier,' with someone else saying there had also been smashed bottle in a car park and other vandalism in the town following the Bank Holiday weekend.
