Ashby de la Zouch Town Council has announced its programme of Platinum Jubilee. celebrations - including a fun fair, a street party and a Lancaster Bomber flyby.

A traditional fun fair in Brook Street will run from Thursday, June 2 to Sunday, June 5.

A large street party has been organised for the Sunday.

Three hundred tables have been pre-booked via a lottery of registered interest.

Each table occupier has been asked to dress their table on the day so they can join in the 'Best Dressed Table Competition'.

This will be judged by the Mayor of Ashby de la Zouch.

The event will be taking place down the entire length of Market Street.

It will take place between 12pm-3pm, with all the surrounding buildings adorned with Union Jack flags.

Speakers will line the length of the event.

This will include live performances and public patriotism via sing-along.

A flyby from a Lancaster Bomber has been organised which will provide an impressive sight.

All of the Ashby businesses have been encouraged to enter a 'Best Dressed Window' competition.

There is a theme of red, white & blue or a Royal display.

Window displays need to be ready for Monday, May 30 and will be judged by the Mayor.

But those are not the only celebrations happening next month.

A Right Royal Celebration – Giant Outdoor Gallery 2022

Ashby Arts Festival is famous for its giant outdoor gallery.

Each year, many businesses around the town centre display huge paintings created by local professional and amateur artists.

With a huge range of styles and images this is accessible "Street Art" for all.

All the boards will remain in place during this month's festival and through the Jubilee celebrations in June.

The theme – "A Right Royal Celebration" has been chosen.

Amateur and professional artists, school and community groups have been creating a colourful gallery of celebratory paintings.

They will be in place until July 6.

You can download a map of all the board locations and details HERE  and follow the trail.

If you do not have access to mobile technology, a limited number of paper trail maps will be available.

You can find them at Fair 2 All on Bath Street, Sweet Memory Lane in Elford Street and in Ashby Library.

Fake Festival – Saturday 4th June

'Fake bands' are coming to Ashby  – professional 'touring-grade' tribute groups that put on a superb performance.

They look, sound and move like the real rock-stars.

The organisers work hard to ensure the festivals are safe, secure, accessible and friendly.

And with an environment that caters for all ages.

A giant marquee ensures a warm, lively, inside atmosphere, so you can really enjoy the music.

The line up includes tributes bands for The Police, Rolling Stones, Guns N Roses, Kasabian, Bon Jovi and a Coldplay tribute headlining.

The event is held on the Bath Grounds from 11.45am -11pm.

"We are looking forward to seeing all the happy smiling faces during the events and hope that everyone has a fantastic time during this once in a lifetime, historic, celebration."
