Ashby de la Zouch Town Council has highlighted the 'deliberate' smearing of dog faeces around the openings to bins in two of the town's most popular parks.

The Council has posted a photo of one of the bins with excrement visible.

It has been made clear that it will not be tolerated - and it has also been described as a health hazard.

The Council post reads: "Warning - Disgusting Post.

"On a regular basis two to three bins in the Bath Grounds and Hood Park are being smeared with dog faeces around the lip of the bins.

"This is a health hazard.

"Nobody should have to think twice before discarding litter in our bins.

"This act is being done deliberately and will not be tolerated."
