Total of 111 confirmed coronavirus cases in Leicester and Leicestershire today

A total of 111 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Leicester and Leicestershire combined today (Fri).

Sixty-three were in Leicester and the rest spread across Leicestershire.

North West Leicestershire had one new confirmed case.

On the day it was put back into local lockdown, Oadby and Wigston added 13 new cases.

Charnwood saw the largest rise with 16 new cases recorded, Blaby added 10 to its cumulative toll.

Hinckley and Bosworth's total went up by five, Harborough added two cases and Melton added one.

The local figures updated at 4.30pm today (Fri) are:

Leicester – 6,407 total cases – Rate per 100,000 population: 1,808

Blaby – 725 total cases – Rate per 100,000 population: 714

Charnwood – 1,059 total cases – Rate per 100,000 population: 569

Harborough – 488 total cases – Rate per 100,000 population: 520

Hinckley and Bosworth – 649 total cases – Rate per 100,000 population: 573

Melton – 247 total cases – Rate per 100,000 population: 482

North West Leicestershire – 378 total cases – Rate per 100,000 population: 364

Oadby and Wigston – 672 total cases – Rate per 100,000 population: 1,178

Restrictions preventing people from mixing with other households will come into force in Oadby and Wigston on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, concerns have also been raised over a rapid rise in Blaby's infection rate.

The local figures updated at 4.30pm yesterday (Thurs) were:

Leicester – 6,344 total cases –Rate per 100,000 population: 1,791

Blaby – 715 total cases – Rate per 100,000 population: 704

Charnwood – 1,043 total cases – Rate per 100,000 population: 561

Harborough – 486 total cases -. Rate per 100,000 population: 518

Hinckley and Bosworth – 644 total cases – Rate per 100,000 population: 569

Melton – 246 total cases – Rate per 100,000 population: 480

North West Leicestershire – 377 total cases – Rate per 100,000 population: 363

Oadby and Wigston – 659 total cases – Rate per 100,000 population: 1,169
