Ashby Pride

This weekend is the return of the annual Ashby Pride with a day packed with live performances, fun, community and celebration.

This year's event will be taking place between 12pm and 7pm on Market Street with live entertainment on the stage, a parade, stalls, a funfair and lots of local businesses getting involved.

Now, the parade will start from 11.45am outside the Bowling Green and will travel down Brook Street, up to the top of Market Street and down the other side (showcasing all of the lovely stalls on offer), before ending at the Main Stage for the show to kick off at noon.

For anyone wanting to join the parade, the organisers are asking participants to meet outside the Bowling Green at 11.30am.

Performances on the Main Stage will officially start at noon, with live performances taking place throughout the day.

After the success of last year's dog show, Natural Hounds will be holding this year's show on the Main Stage from 1.15pm.

Performances are taking place throughout the day on the Main Stage, including from Miss Tutu, Joanne Shallow, a live DJ and more.

The main festivities end at 7pm, with local pubs doing after-parties until later.

Along with the Main Stage, there is also a variety of stalls from local sellers with handcrafted items, showcasing local businesses and sponsors, as well as Ashby's pubs and food vendors serving up refreshments.

On Thursday 6 August, Quantum Theatre will be performing their much loved adaptation of two of Beatrix Potter's best-loved tales.

This charming tale will have you spellbound and is perfect for grabbing the kids, a blanket and a picnic and enjoying a magical family afternoon.

The Health Workshop is holding a session on the Medical Aspects of Meditation to help attendees learn about how meditation can support physical, mental and emotional wellbeing in simple and practical ways.

Meet and Greet with Guide Dogs for the Blind

On Saturday 8th August, 11am–1pm, Guide Dogs for the Blind will be at the Ashby Tourist Information Centre on North Street for a meet and greet with their dogs and puppies — including dogs currently in training.

A brilliant chance to meet these incredible animals, learn about the journey a guide dog goes through, and speak with volunteers about puppy raising or fundraising. Visitors will also have the opportunity to pat and interact with the dogs on the day.
