Ashby Netball Club has received funding through the Let's Get Moving campaign to support the continued growth of its thriving Walking Netball programme.

The funding will be used to help promote the sessions throughout the local community, encouraging more people to discover the physical, social and wellbeing benefits that Walking Netball can offer.

Walking Netball is a slower-paced version of the traditional game, designed to be accessible to people of all ages, abilities and fitness levels.

Whether participants are returning to netball after many years away from the sport, looking to improve their fitness, or simply wanting to meet new people, the sessions provide a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone.

The support from the Let's Get Moving campaign will enable Ashby Netball Club to invest in promotional materials, community outreach and advertising, helping to raise awareness of the programme and reach even more local residents.

Ashby Netball Club Chair, Carla Garey, said: 'We are incredibly grateful to the Let's Get Moving campaign for supporting our Walking Netball programme.

'The sessions have become much more than just an hour of exercise each week, they are a fantastic social community where people can improve their physical and mental wellbeing, make new friends and have fun. This funding will allow us to reach even more people across Ashby and the surrounding areas.'

Since launching, the programme has welcomed participants from a wide range of backgrounds, many of whom had never previously considered joining a sports club. The sessions focus on enjoyment, participation and inclusivity, with laughter often proving just as important as the netball itself.

The club currently welcomes over 250 members across its junior, senior and walking netball sections and is committed to creating opportunities for everyone to enjoy the benefits of sport.

Walking Netball takes place every Thursday evening and new players are always welcome.

Walking Netball is at Granville Academy, Woodville on Thursdays between 6pm and 7pm.

No previous netball experience is required, and participants are encouraged to come along and give it a try.

Ashby Netball Club would like to thank the Let's Get Moving campaign for its support and investment in helping local people become more active, healthier and better connected through sport.
