Ashby Netball Club is celebrating a landmark moment after being crowned National Community Club of the Year at the England Netball ONE Awards on 18 October — with a member of the team also taking home an individual honour.

Hosted annually by England Netball, the ONE Awards celebrate the exceptional people, clubs, and organisations who make the sport thrive across the country.

The National Community Club of the Year Award is one of the most prestigious titles, recognising excellence, inclusivity, and community impact in grassroots netball.

Speaking about the win, the club shared their excitement on social media: "We are seriously excited and proud to share that we won the National Community Club of the Year at the ONE Awards 2025 tonight! This is a huge win for our whole netball community.

"Every single training session, every volunteer hour, every cheer from the side-line, every bit of fundraising, it all adds up.

"This award belongs to every player, coach, volunteer, and parent who makes Ashby Netball Club the special place it is.

"A massive thank you to the ONE Awards. We are so proud!"

Over the past year, Ashby Netball Club has gone from strength to strength, launching new junior sessions, running mental health awareness workshops, introducing walking netball, expanding its mixed netball programme, growing membership, raising over £80,000 for charity, and partnering with local schools to make netball accessible to everyone.

The club's achievements were further highlighted when Ange, a much-loved member of the Ashby Netball community, was named Unsung Hero of the Year.

"We are absolutely beaming with pride for her," the club said. "If you know Ange, you know she's the true heartbeat of our club. Her kindness, her endless hours, and her dedication are the reason Ashby Netball Club is what it is today.

"This is the most deserved award, Ange! Thank you for everything you do, you are truly amazing."

Reflecting on their national success, the club says this is just the beginning: "We're incredibly proud of how far we've come, but we're even more excited about what's next.

"With new initiatives planned for next season, we're determined to keep growing the sport, supporting our community, and inspiring the next generation of players."
