In a speeding operation around Ashby on 22 October, Leicestershire Police found 20 drivers exceeding the speed limit, including one travelling at 53mph in a 30mph speed zone. 

Officers from the Ashby and Forest Beat carried out a speeding operation on Moira Road in Shellbrook and Acresford Road in Donisthorpe. 

These areas were selected as they have received complaints from the communities about concerns over speeding. 

On Moira Road in Shellbrook in a 30mph zone, 9 out of 148 vehicles were exceeding the speed limit, with the highest recorded speed of 38mph by three drivers. 

On Acresford Road in Donisthorpe in a 30mph speed limit zone, 102 drivers were checked with 11 found to be exceeding the speed limit. One driver was recorded doing 53 mph, 23mph above the speed limit. 

Leicestershire Police said: 'Speeding puts lives at risk. Please help us keep our roads safe by sticking to the limits.'
