North West Leicestershire District Council has announced it is cracking down on environmental crime by increasing fines for Fly-tipping, Littering, Household Duty of Care, Graffitiing and Flyposting.

The local authority says the national law changed last year, allowing councils to increase these penalties.

In North West Leicestershire the following charges will now apply:

• Fly-tipping fines have increased from £400 to £600.

• Littering fines have increased from £150 to £225.

• Graffitiing and Flyposting have increased from £150 to £225.
