North West Leicestershire District Council says decisions on Ashby parking charges are 'some time away'
North West Leicestershire District Council has pointed out that a decision on new car parking charges in Ashby will not be made for some time.
The council issued a survey earlier this month and invited residents to give their views in a questionnaire.
However, the survey has yet to close - when it does next Monday (June 3), the feedback will then be analysed and any reports will then be submitted to the relevant council committees.
But Ashby de la Zouch Town Council has already made its concerns known with charges set to rise in the town.
Ashby Civic Society has described the proposals as 'anti-Ashby".
But Andy Barton, Strategic Director for Housing and Community Services at North West Leicestershire District Council, said: "The car parking survey is the first step in our review of parking charges.
"The survey is designed to help us find out how people use our car parks at the moment, and how potential changes might affect them.
"Parking is an issue that affects lots of people, so we're pleased that people are giving us feedback to inform decisions.
"Just like a lot of councils all over the country, we have budgetary pressures which mean we're having to look closely at all of our services and do what we can to close a predicted funding gap in the future.
"No decisions have been made yet about parking, so I would encourage people to complete the survey and give us their feedback."
