North West Leicestershire District Council is asking for the public's views on local markets.

The council says it is developing a new policy to make sure markets in North West Leicestershire are consistent, fair and great for the local economy.

It adds: "Whether you're a trader, shopper or event organiser, your feedback matters.

"Right now, we are consulting on a draft Market Rights Policy. It's about making sure we have a fair and consistent approach to how markets are run — protecting the ones we already invest in, while supporting the right kind of new events too.

"This affects everything from one-off artisan events to large-scale commercial fairs. That's why we want to hear from residents, traders and event organisers.

"Markets play a key role in our town centres — help us make them even better."

Coalville's open-air market was re-sited to the newly refurbished Marlborough Square last year, next to the indoor facility at Newmarket.

In Ashby, there is an artisan market each month, and a permanent one in the Town Hall.
