Ashby is ready to mark the 805th anniversary of the town centre Statutes funfair next week.

North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC), along with Ashby de la Zouch Town Council and organisers Pat Collins Funfair will be staging the annual event.

This year's Statutes fair will take place from Friday, September 13, to Tuesday, September 17, on Market Street in Ashby.

The fair will feature a variety of traditional and modern rides and attractions, meaning there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Organisers say there will also be the usual range of food and refreshment stalls available during the event.

Visitors are advised to plan for delays due to road closures and one-way systems, especially around peak travel times in the morning and evening.

Councillor Tony Gillard, Portfolio Holder for Business and Regeneration at NWLDC, said: "Ashby Statutes is a popular event with people coming from all over to enjoy the rides and attractions.

"This is a key event in Ashby's annual calendar and really helps to put the town on the map as a great place for families to visit.

"We look forward to seeing the town centre busy with people enjoying the fun of the fair, which is now celebrating its 805th year."
