On Friiday night, the Ashby's Mayor's Charity night will feature the Gresley Male Voice choir at the Holy Trinity Church in Kilwardby Street.

As part of her charity of the year fundraising for Bright Hope in North West Leicestershire, Avril Wilson, the Town Mayor of Ashby, is holding this great event.

Still in Blackfordby, there will be a tribute writing workshop to the late Benjamin Zephaniah.

The Consent to Write Sessions remembers Benjamin with a dedicated workshop to help celebrate and share the poet's genius.

Benjamin was a British writer, dub poet, actor, musician, and professor of poetry and creative writing. He was included in The Times list of Britain's top 50 post-war writers in 2008.
