Two cars were involved in a collision on a main Ashby road this afternoon (Thursday) - with police and fire service closing access to a housing estate.

The incident happened on Burton Road at the junction of Marlborough Way shortly before 1pm.

It came just hours after part of Market Street was closed off this morning after a vehicle hit a man who was taken to hospital but, sadly, later died.

The Burton Road incident saw the junction to Marlborough Way blocked as emergency vehicles attended the scene.

One of the people involved appeared to be receiving medical treatment, but Leicestershire Police said that no injuries had been reported.

Fire crews were also involved in the clear-up following the lunchtime incident.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police told Ashby Nub News: "Police were called at 12.47pm today (Thursday) to a report of a two-car collision in Burton Road, Ashby.

"No injuries have been reported."
