Bath Street in Ashby is due to be closed to traffic this weekend for two days.

Leicestershire County Council Highways has agreed to a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order at the town centre street.

The reason is for public safety so that Severn Trent Water can carry out what is described as infrastructure repairs'.

Motorists will still be able to gain access to South Street, but only from the Station Road entrance.

Diversions will be in place over the weekend.

A statement says: "A road closure is required on Bath Street from Kilwardby Street for approximately 25 metres on the 15th July 2023 for two days.

"Access to South Street will still be maintained from the Station Road/Bath Street junction.

"The proposed alternative diversion route will be via: Station Road, Lower Packington Road, Upper Packington Road, Leicester Road, Upper Church Street, Wood Street, Market Street, and vice versa.

During the closures, alternative routes available to all traffic can be viewed HERE.

Last month, Bath Street was closed for most of the day by county council highways so that paving could be relaid.
