The main A512 road has been closed off this morning (Tuesday) - following an accident at Flagstaff Island in Ashby.

Leicestershire Police are advising drivers to seek an alternative route.

A spokeswoman for Leicestershire Police said: "We were called to Flagstaff Island in Ashby just after 8.40am this morning (Tuesday 25 May) after a two vehicle collision.

"The Ambulance service also attended. There were minor injuries."

The closure comes at one of the busiest times of the day and affects people travelling from Ashby towards Shepshed and Loughborough.

A social media post from Leicestershire Police reads: "There are road closures in place along the A512 at Thringstone at the Junction of Lily bank by the George and Dragon.

"Please follow an alternative route , thank you."
