Road between Ashby And Coalville 'Closed For A Number Of Hours' After Emergency Services Called To Three-Vehicle Collision

A traffic incident has closed the A511 between Ashby and Coalville this afternoon (Wednesday).

Emergency services have been called and police said at 1pm the road is expected to be shut for several hours.

The incident happened bwtween Hoo Ash Island, A511 Swannington Rd, Ravenstone and Ashby Rd, Sinope.

Police say the road has been closed in both directions.

A tweet from Leicestershire Police said: "Traffic Update, 1pm - This Road Closure will be in place for a number of hours. Please avoid the area and find an alternative route. Thank you."

We will update this story when we have more details - but police have now issued a further statement.

A Leicestershire Police spokeswoman said: "Officers were called at 12.19pm today to a three-vehicle collision on the A511 in Ravenstone, Coalville.

"East Midlands Ambulance Service and Leicester Fire and Rescue Service are also in attendance.

"Police currently remain at the scene and road closures are in place."
