An Ashby restaurant failed to sell at auction, meaning the owners' retirement is 'on hold' until a new buyer purchases the property.

The listed building at 2 Kilwardby Street is currently home to La Zouch Coffee House, Restaurant and Wine Cellar, who have been there for the last fourty years.

The building is a Grade II listed property across three floors with a walled garden.

It was up for auction on Thursday 9 July for £250,000 with Bond Wolfe but, according to the owners, did not reach the reserve price at auction so has not sold.

La Zouch will continue to be open Wednesday to Sunday for the foreseeable future.
