Residents concerned as group sets up caravans at park in Ashby: Authorities say matter is 'being dealt with'

Residents on an Ashby housing estate are concerned about a group of people with caravans who have set up camp on a nearby park.

The group have taken around 15 caravans on to Westfields Park on the Westfields Estate.

That brought a series of complaints from local residents who do not want them there.

The police have been contacted and Town Councillor Jim Hoult, representing the Ashby Ivanhoe Ward, says the matter is being dealt with.

There are suggestions on social media that the group gained access through a locked gate, but this has not yet been confirmed.

A post on social media says that Leicestershire County Council will be dealing with the matter as the caravans are on private land.

However, Ashby Nub News has since been contacted by the group to dispute that the land is private property.
