Red Arrows to fly over Ashby as part of VJ Day commemorations

At approximately 1pm on Friday 15th August, the Red Arrows are set to pass over Willesley and Packington, near Ashby, on their way to the National Memorial Arboretum.
Friday 15th August marks 80 years since the end of World War Two in Japan, signifying an overall end to the conflict. This special anniversary and the 80th Anniversary of VE Day earlier in the year have been recognised locally with memorial services and celebrations to mark the occasion.
There will also be a small service held at the war memorial in Ashby, with attendees asked to arrive at 11.30am for a 11.45 start. Following the service, wreaths will be laid at the memorial and two minutes silence will be observed nationwide.
