Donisthorpe Community Group's new rainbow benches were installed in the village over the weekend.

The new furniture is designed to provide a 'little piece of calm' - as well as remembering those affected by the Covid Pandemic.

A Just Giving page was set up to raise the money needed to get the project off the ground - with £600 donated after an initial target of £550 was set.

This is how we reported the plans in April: Donisthorpe residents raise money for rainbow bench.

Donisthorpe Community Group, Donisthorpe Neighbourhood Watch and The Orchard Allotment Society worked collaboratively to deliver the benches which are at the DC Gates in Church Street.

The idea came from a local resident Peter Stewart Gale - with an anonymous villager donating the other bench.

After such a difficult year due to the pandemic, the idea was approved to create an area to remember all those affected by COVID-19 pandemic and pay tribute to all our NHS and Key Workers.
