Pubs and Restaurants open their doors again: Here's where to get a drink and a bite to eat in the Ashby area

It's April 12 and finally some of Ashby's pubs and restaurants can re-open as part of the roadmap out of lockdown.

A number of venues will be welcoming back customers today.

But it's outdoors only for now so not all of them will be open.

In Market Street, both the Bull's Head and the White Hart are doing business again with strict Covid rules in place.

The Lamb says it will not be opening again until May 17.

There are a number of other businesses open as well so please let us know if you're not on this list.

The White Hart's Facebook page says: "Can't wait to see everyone.

"Open from 12pm - 10pm

"Book a table using Facebook messages - but we will be keeping some space for walk-ins too. Max table size 6."

The Bull's Head announced the measures they have in place for today last week The Bull sets out re-opening plans.

And the pub's website says: "We are hugely excited to announce the re-opening of a number of our pubs on Monday 12th April.

"In line with English Government guidelines, these pubs will only be able to open their beer gardens to the public."

The Plough on the Green says: "After what seems like forever since we have seen you all I'm glad to say we will be opening our beer garden on Monday from 11am!

"First come, first served basis and no booking available- looking forward to seeing you all."

Both The Lamb and The Beeches, on Burton Road, say they will not open until the next milestone out of lockdown which is May 17.

The Shoulder of Mutton Wetherspoon pub announced its re-opening plans last month Shoulder of Mutton to reopen beer garden in April and the pub website says: "This pub is open, with restricted service."

In terms of restaurants, Zamani's is opening its courtyard today.

The Italian restaurant's Facebook page says: "We are beyond excited that we can open our courtyard to all of you, our team have worked tirelessly to get everything ready for opening!

"Both canopies in the courtyard have heaters and lights, they are also 50 per cent open to adhere to government guidelines (please dress according to the weather).

"We will also have tables available each night that are not under a canopy - these will be walk in tables only.

"Bookings are being taken via email at [email protected], opening times are available to see below this post.

"Please note that we cannot take bookings on social media.

"And now the regulations…

"EVERY GUEST has to sign in to Track and Trace. Please download the NHS app prior to arrival and scan the poster on entry. (Refusal to do so will result in refused entry). You can complete the track and trace by a written method as well as by app.

"Please bring a face mask with you as you will need it if you need to visit the toilets.

"Please do not come to the courtyard if you are feeling unwell or have any COVID 19 symptoms.

"There will be NO SMOKING permitted under the canopies."

La Zouch Restaurant in Kilwardby Street says it will be back open tomorrow (Tuesday).

They say: "Looking forward to seeing everyone from Tuesday when we are allowed to open up our garden to our lovely customers.

"Still continuing with our delivery service of food and wine but can't wait to welcome everyone back."

The Greyhound at Boundary is also re-opening today at 12.

Their Facebook page says: "It's nearly time for our re-opening!

"Who is coming to visit? Check out our Garden Menu and click 'BOOK NOW' to reserve a table!"

The White Hart in Measham says it plans to re-open on Thursday.

Their Facebook page says: "The White Hart garden will open on Thursday 15th of April @ 11am.

"Opening hours will be temporary and will be Thursday to Sunday 11am until 8/9 but I'll be playing it by ear depending on weather/other factors.

"I'm doing my best to make the temporary conditions as comfortable as possible for you all and I can't tell you how much I am looking forward to seeing each and every one one of you."

The Bird in Hand in Measham is also back open today and their Facebook page says: "The time has come to welcome you back to your local.

"As you are fully aware it's going to be very different to normal with outdoor drinking only, we worked hard to get the garden as good as possible - marquees and gazebos - to keep you sheltered from what ever the weather might be.

"Obviously this is all new to us all, we will do are upmost best to cater for you all as quickly as possible , but we need your help by sticking to the government guidelines that we have got to follow which are as follows

"All customers to sign in with QR code or paper, this is a must by each person.

"Refusing to do so, you will not be allowed in

"Facemask must be worn when moving around for toilets and finding your seat.

"Table service only so you must remain seated at all times at your table, and staff will take your orders

"Lastly, please make sure you wrap up warm and let's make the best of the situation we are all having to deal with so you can enjoy your pint at your local."

The Bull and Lion in Packington is under new management as it prepares to open its doors today.

They say: "It's official We Can Open Our Doors On The Monday 12th April.

"To Customers Wanting To Drink Eat Or Both. We Are Taking Booking For Tables For 3 Hour Slots Or More Depending On Your Requirements.

"We Are Also Welcoming Guests Who Don't Book But We Can't Guarantee You Seating, But Feel Free To Bring Picnic Blanket To Be placed On The Grass.

"Government Guidance Says Customers Must Follow Either Rule Of Six Or Be In A Group Of Any Size As Long As There Are No More Than Two Households Present To A Table.

"Food Will Be Served All Day From 11am Till 9pm Daily

"We Do Ask You To Be Patient With Us A This Will Be New To All Us.

"We Are Very Excited To Welcome You All Back And Look Forward To Meeting You All."

At least two local sports clubs in Ashby will have bars up and running today.

Ashby Ivanhoe FC says their Knights Bar is open from 4pm.

They say: "We are excited for tomorrows re-opening and are just about ready to welcome you all back!

"All tables and chairs have been set out and a deep clean has been completed.

"The new stage has been built, new planters filled & lightning put up. Just the sides of the Marquee to be removed tomorrow and we are good to go!

"Two screens will be available to view sport on, and we have super surprise that we will share soon which will be fantastic and enhance the experience for everyone!

"Opening times:

"Mon to Fri: 4pm to close

Sat/Sun: 12pm to close

"We have limited tables and expect it to be busy, so please make sure you book via Direct Message The Knights Bar at AIFC to avoid disappointment.

"A couple of House Rules:
  • Tables can only be booked in groups no larger than 6
  • Tables cannot be moved together
  • It's full table service - please remained seated at all times apart from when using toilets
  • Track & Trace is mandatory (Sorry it's the rules!)
  • At present it is outdoor seating only - please feel free to bring blankets to keep warm if cold!

"Please bear with us whilst we get up to speed again, it's been a while since we have worked the bar too!

"We want you to have fun and enjoy yourselves, please do your bit by following the rules and we will make it as enjoyable for you as we can.

"We look forward to welcoming you back!"

Ashby Hastings Cricket Club is also offering pizza and beer tonight from 4.30pm with Biddulphs Pizzeria.
