Police Investigate Report Of Man In Van Approaching Young Boy In Ashby

Police are investigating a report that a man approached a young boy in Ashby town centre and asked him to get into his van.

The incident is thought to have happened on Monday afternoon in Market Street, near to the market. It was then reported by the boy's parent.

A warning was circulated to schools in the area to make parents and students aware.

Police were notified following the incident, the man was in a white van.

A spokeswoman for Leicestershire Police said: "Further enquiries are being carried out after officers received a report alleging that a young boy was spoken to by a man in a van.

"The incident is believed to have taken place in Market Street, Ashby, around 3.15pm on Monday (21 September) and was reported to the police later on the same afternoon.

"Enquiries are being conducted into the report but at this stage there is no evidence of any criminal offences."
