Ashby de la Zouch marked Armistice Day in Market Street today (Friday) - with a large crowd turning up to pay its respects.

As well as the Royal British Legion, every school in the town was also represented, with some laying wreaths at the town's war memorial.

Local town councillors also attended and a short ceremony included a reading of the Lord's Prayer and the singing of the National Anthem - as well as a reading of the poem For the Fallen, which includes the words, We Will Remember Them.

Part of Market Street was closed to traffic while the service took place and two minutes' silence was observed at 11am.

Here are some photos and video from this morning.
