North West Leicestershire's proclamation of the new sovereign takes place tomorrow (Sunday) in Coalville.

The national proclamation will be held at St James' Palace in London at 11am today (Saturday).

This will be followed on Sunday by proclamations in the regions.

North West Leicestershire District Council Chairman, Cllr Russell Boam, will lead the ceremony at 2pm.

The council says this will be a short ceremony held at the official flagpole to the front of Stenson House (Council Offices) on London Road in Coalville.

Members of the public are welcome to attend.

As part of the formal protocols, flags on vertical flag poles will be raised to full height during the period of proclamation in recognition of the new monarch.

They will then be lowered again until the day after the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.
