A new style hair Ashby salon has opened its doors in Market Street.

With a passion for the best in creative hairdressing combined with a dedication to improving the mental health of the community, Meraki Hair is up and running.

It offers not just amazing hair care, but help in supporting the wellbeing of every client via meditation classes, relaxation therapies, and even the chance to learn new breathing techniques.

Owner Jamie Leigh Bailey has successfully run Meraki in Clarendon Park, Leicester for five years but, it was when she met her now business partner Ryan Ridgway, that they decided a salon dedicated to overall wellbeing was a great idea.

Ryan said: "I've had my own share of mental health issues for many years and now work to support the mental health of others both within the NHS and, as a mental health first aid trainer.

"I have seen how much simple techniques such as breath work and meditation can help so Jamie and I decided it would be a great thing to offer our clientele.

"There has never been so great a need to support the mental health of both our community and clients."

The launch party of the new salon was a chance to shout about what's on offer and also pledge on going support to local charity, Mental Mate, which provides free counselling sessions to adults and children in homes, schools offices and via zoom.

Chloe Maddin, from Mental Mate said: "What Ryan and Jamie are doing via Meraki is raising the profile of mental health and mental wellbeing within the community.

"It's great to have ambassadors like them and the salon is committed to not only promoting our charity, but organising regular fund raising events throughout the year."

Ashby Nub News first highlighted Meraki's different approach last month HERE.
