Ashby's new hairdressers promises to be much more than that - as it also promises to focus on mental health issues.

October sees the launch of the award winning hair salon Meraki open its second space on Ashby's Market Street - where it will occupy the former Thomas Cook office.

Specialising in colour correction, balayage and blonding, this modern and contemporary Salon says it will add value and support the community with its approach to wellbeing

Established in 2016, director and colour specialist Jamie Leigh Bailey is an award winner.

He has achieved status as a 5-star Salon East Midlands, Bridal Specialist 2019 and the company is currently a finalist in the Salon of the Year 2021 awards at Meraki Hair in Leicester.

Jamie Leigh said: "As a resident of Ashby, I wanted to add value to the town I love so much and we will using our new space to support the community from a mental health perspective.

"As we all know, wellbeing is so important and we will running courses in meditation, mindfulness and mental health awareness alongside charitable events in addition to providing exceptional hairdressing."

Co-owner Ryan Ridgway, a specialist in mental health support and mental health speaker, will lead on this aspect of the business and will be offering free places to become fully qualified mental health first aiders to business owners living in Ashby.

The salon says self care and a bit of time for you is essential in this fast-paced world, and look forward to providing a safe space to relax, unwind and enjoy.

The salon is currently looking for stylists to join the Meraki family, so if you are interested, please email [email protected] for more information.
