A nature awareness day is being held in Ashby town centre on Saturday. with information available about a number of initiatives.

Ashby Town Councillor Barbara Kneale will be at the stand outside Boots in Market Street.

The day is being organised as part of Ashby de la Zouch Town Council's membership of the Leicestershire-wide Parish Nature Network.

Cllr Kneale says Ashby de La Zouch is one of the most active contributors to Naturespot.

Visitors to the stand will be able to get information about Hedgehogs, The Ashby Tree Trail and NatureSpot.

Ashby de la Zouch is the centre of the National Forest but do you know that the town has some great trees within easy walking distance of the town centre?

You can meet the town's meet Tree Wardens and learn about the Ashby de la Zouch Tree Trail.

Also, learn about what you can do to help the local hedgehog populations.

Information is provided by Hedgehog Street (see QR code) and the British Hedgehog Preservation Society..
